NDIS Shift Types
and Rates

Weekday, Saturday, Sunday, Public Holiday, and Night — current rates from the NDIS Support Catalogue 2025-26.

The Five NDIS Shift Types

The NDIS recognises five shift types, each with a different maximum hourly rate. The rate you charge depends on when you provide support. These rates come from the official NDIS Price Guide 2025-26 (Support Catalogue v1.1) and represent the maximum price limit for Assistance with Daily Life supports.

Weekday Shifts

Weekday shifts are the most common and cover daytime support provided Monday through Friday. The standard rate of $70.23/hr applies from 6am to midnight. If your shift extends past midnight, the hours between midnight and 6am are charged at the Night rate instead.

Weekend Shifts

Saturday and Sunday shifts attract higher rates to compensate for working outside normal business hours. Saturday shifts are billed at $98.83/hr and Sunday shifts at $127.43/hr. The day of the week is what determines the rate — not the time of day.

Public Holiday Shifts

Public holiday shifts carry the highest rate at $156.03/hr. This applies to gazetted public holidays as declared by the relevant state or territory government. If a public holiday falls on a weekend, the public holiday rate takes precedence.

Night Shifts

Night shifts cover the period from midnight to 6am on weekdays (Monday to Friday) at $78.81/hr. Night rates do not apply on weekends — Saturday and Sunday rates apply for all hours on those days.

Which Shift Type Goes on Your Invoice?

Your NDIS invoice must specify the shift type and use the corresponding PAPL billing code. If a single shift spans two different rate periods (e.g., a weekday shift that crosses midnight), you may need to split the invoice into two line items. Your progress note should also reflect the correct times.
